Membership Agreement

Overview

This Membership Agreement ("Agreement") sets out the terms and conditions of membership in International Qualified Actuaries Group Limited (InQA GROUP). By applying for membership, you agree to be bound by this Agreement.

Membership Requirements

To become a member of InQA GROUP, a person must:

  1. Pay the application fee (also referred to as the verification fee)
  2. Complete the application for membership form approved by the directors
  3. Meet the eligibility criteria as defined in the Rules of Membership
  4. If the application is approved, pay the membership fee

Basic Conditions

It is a condition of joining and of retaining membership that members agree to:

  • Follow the Articles of Association and the Rules of Membership
  • Maintain a valid payment method for recurring monthly membership fees
  • Abide by the Code of Professional Conduct and the Disciplinary Process

Members acknowledge that membership termination is a possible consequence of the Disciplinary Process if sufficiently serious professional misconduct is found.

Definitions

"Application Fee/Verification Fee" means the one-time fee paid during application to cover the costs of verifying an applicant's actuarial qualifications. These terms are used interchangeably in our documents and systems.

"Code of Professional Conduct" means the written code of professional conduct that members agree to abide by in their professional life as a condition of joining or renewing their membership.

"Disciplinary Process" means the formal disciplinary process specified in writing by the directors for dealing with formal allegations (made by identified individuals in writing) of breaches by an identified member of the Code of Professional Conduct).

"Rules of Membership" means the set of Rules of Membership specified in writing by the directors.

Member Responsibilities

By accepting this Agreement, members agree to:

  • Take full responsibility for the accuracy of all information they provide in their profile (as displayed in the Member Directory), personal page, blog posts, forum contributions, and any other content they submit to the site.
  • Use the site for professional content related to the fields of actuarial science, data science, and related disciplines.
  • Limit any discussion of political or socio-economic matters to topics of general significance to the economy and finance.
  • Comply with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of the website.

Members acknowledge that failure to adhere to these responsibilities may result in content removal, account suspension, or other actions as determined by the directors in accordance with the Disciplinary Process.

Company Structure

InQA GROUP is a private company limited by guarantee. This means that the liability of each member is limited to the amount of the guarantee specified in the articles, which is the amount set out in the model articles for such a company: £1 (one pound sterling).

Administrative services for InQA GROUP, including website management and secretariat functions, are provided by InQA Limited, a separate company established in 1995.

Membership Period and Payments

Note: Membership fees are processed as recurring monthly payments through our payment processor. The membership year is the calendar year, with pricing changes typically occurring at the start of each calendar year. After the initial application, membership will be for the rest of the current calendar year inclusive, renewing automatically each month unless cancelled.

Invoices and Receipts

Payment receipts and invoices for membership fees are automatically generated by our payment processor (Stripe). Members can access these documents through:

  • Payment confirmation emails sent by Stripe after each successful payment
  • The Stripe Customer Portal, which provides access to all payment history and invoices

For tax or expense reimbursement purposes, members should download these documents directly from their email or the Customer Portal. The Secretariat does not provide duplicate invoices as all necessary documentation is automatically available through Stripe's self-service options.

Changes to Terms

InQA GROUP may update this Agreement from time to time. Any changes to the Disciplinary Process will only take effect from the start of the next calendar year and with sufficient prior notice to members. Other changes to this Agreement may be made with reasonable notice to members.

Related Documents

This Agreement should be read in conjunction with the following documents, which form part of the terms and conditions of membership:

Important: After discussion, the Disciplinary Process is marked as Draft. This is to allow members to have a say, to allow time for us to investigate the possibility of outsourcing the disciplinary process at a fixed annual premium to the ABCD (or if agreement cannot be reached with the ABCD, some other body if one can be set up), and to allow time for initial reserves to build up (disciplinary cases are expected to be very rare events but with potentially high financial cost).
