Personalised page for Patrick Lee

Welcome to my personalised page on the International Qualified Actuaries Group website.

I am Patrick Lee and I qualified as FIA (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries) in 1989.

After spending 9 years at R Watson and Sons (now Willis Towers Watson) in first their pensions then their investment consulting practice (ending up as partner leading their asset allocation consulting in Europe), I set up my own actuarial and other software firm in 1995 with Alun Marriott and then world renowned actuary Professor David Wilkie CBE FFA FIA.

I specialise in cloud software in the Microsoft ecosystem but also with a strong interest in AI.

I am also the founder and General Secretary of the International Qualified Actuaries group.

An AI first approach

An AI first approach

One of the things I have been doing over the past four weeks is studying the latest AI developments with fascination.

I am determined to adopt an AI first approach as far as possible in my work (including nurturing and growing INQA GROUP).

More on this as things develop.  But a couple of interesting thoughts for you to ponder:

  1. vectal.ai is an AI first company that aims to be the killer app on personal productivity. You give it the context of your situation and goals and it then uses AI to give you tailored guidance (using your context, updated as time goes on).  It has a free plan which I am currently trying and looks very interesting.
  2. The pace of change is accelerating and it is very hard to keep up, with incredible new tools coming thick and fast (o3, deepseek, grok3, claude sonnet 3.7, as well as lots of other tools designed to help use these).  The important thing is to get started: whatever tool you use will probably be surpassed by another one soon, but the tool you use is already much better than anything available a year ago!

So let's get started on this incredible journey and marvel as productivity is unleashed on a scale probably larger than ever before in humanity's history!
